Blog #6: So What Now?

It seems like from the time I graduated High School up to the time Ive attended SDSU Im constantly being asked “So Whats Next”. I guess there’s no more living in the moment these days, planning ahead has become my most valuable skill. Although Ive planned for various occasions in my life as we all know, when you make a plan God laughs. But it doesn’t hurt to prepare yourself with possible options, the next biggest decision in my life is what I plan to do after college.

High School me knew I would attend a four year university straight out of High School graduated and then begin working in my field of studies. College Gianni now knows my pit stop at a junior college was necessary before attending that four year university I dreamed of. Ive also come to the concussion I want to give myself every possible chance to succeed therefor I will be graduating college and enrolling myself into and Architecture Masters Program but where..

This Blog post is geared towards my top five choices of where I would like to complete my masters program, ranked by practicality.

  1. University of San Diego

Degree: Master of Interior Architecture

Duration: Two years

2. University of California Los Angeles

Degree: Master of Interior Architecture

Duration: One year

3. University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Degree: Master of HealthCare Interior Design

Duration: Two years

4. The University of Arizona

Degree: Master of Architecture

Duration: Two years

5. New School of Architecture and Design:

Degree: Master of Construction Management

Duration: Twelve Months

Luckily all these programs have the same if not very similar requirements. A degree in Interior Architecture, 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work and be able to maintain a 3.0 GPA through the masters program, Submission of a portfolio, Graduate record examination scores, and to Submit an application with all additional required documents.

  1. Thanks for sharing! It looks like you have it all planned out which is nice 🙂 I am still so unsure what I will do after college but thats fine. Their is so much pressure saying go to college and get a job but sometimes its okay to just take a moment and what makes you happy. I hope youre taking care 🙂

  2. Hi Gianni! I agree with what you said about always being asked ‘What’s next.” It’s such an important skill to be able to plan ahead and I’m sure it will continue to be valuable for you in your future. I think it is courageous of you to want to go to grad school and Architecture sounds like an interesting field in which to expand your studies. I’ve been debating going to grad school for a while now, and while everyone has been telling me “just do it!’ I don’t think it would be right if I’m not sure exactly what I would go for. But since you know you want to get your masters in Architecture, this is a great plan.

  3. Hi Gianna! I can relate to what you said about constantly asking “What’s next.” Sometimes it seems like whenevr we can catch a break, something new is on its way. I think it’s a valuable skill to be able to plan ahead and you are at an advantage if you are good at it. I admire your courage to go to grad school and that you have a plan set up is great! I have been debating going to grad school for a while now and while everyone says just do it, I don’t want to unless I am sure what I would go for. In your case you already know which is great.

Great last blog post, i thought it was very cool how you pointed the unexpected twists and turns that life throws at you. I also went to junior college before this and it allowed me to achieve my goal of attending sdsu. I admire your drive and passion that motivated you, sometimes I feel like I need that passion in my life once more.
