Where I’m From

I am from beliefs and aspirations.

from “One day I will” to “Now that I have”

from “Try again later” to “This time Ive got it”

from “Lets hope” to “Lets make it happen”

I am from André and Vincent .

I’m from don’t wait until the last minute,

get it done now and relax later.

From set goals that are attainable and then once you’ve

reached them set more, why wait.

I am from head held high, shoulders pushed back, smile!

you’re wearing a crown, be the person people wish to be.

dedicate yourself to your community, and always strive for

excellence.

But most importantly give yourself the opportunity to live the life you’ve dreamed of.

  1. hey Gianni you’re poem is very uplifting. I feel like you have been through some challenges or trials and have rose up to be more positive, confident, and optimistic. I like the lines where you mention “from” (this to that) as it shows growth through your beliefs. keep shining girl!

  2. Hey Gianni,
Great post! Your poem was beautifully written and very inspirational. The last line in your poem specifically spoke me “give yourself the opportunity to live the life you’ve dreamed of.” I feel like that resonated with me because life can be quite daunting and discouraging at times, thus limiting one’s confidence to face their fears and go after what they want. I believe it is important to not always be your biggest critic and let yourself live without fear of unknown possibilities.

  3. Hi Gianni!
I love what you did with this poem. It really gives the reader an inside look at how you were raised, and how that influenced your modern day beliefs. I can relate to a lot of what you’ve written personally, and I think that the line about “giving yourself the opportunity to live the life you’ve always dreamed of” is great. I think we often sell ourselves short, and live a less than great life because we don’t think we’re capable of, or deserving of more. Thank you for sharing this!
